Fridays in September

IMG_0002

First things first...this is new in the shop!

Now - on to the Friday thing. I mentioned, earlier this week, that I was going to need everyone's help today. Thank you all for volunteering. You're so very kind! I promise you'll be rewarded for your time and effort.

I'd like to put some prints in my Etsy shop, but I'd like for you all to choose which paintings you think will make the best prints. So - I'm adding a poll below, and I'd like for each of you to choose your favorite of the five for this week.

I'll be adding a different group of five every Friday in September, and with the results, I'll add the winner of each week into the shop as a limited edition print.

Easy peasy, right?

Right. As a reward for this difficult task, I'll be picking two names each week from the comments and they'll each receive a print of the winning painting! That's right...TWO names. Four weeks. THAT'S EIGHT PRINTS, PEOPLE.

I'm feeling a bit giddy.

All prints will be mailed out to the winners during the first week of October.

So - make your selection in the poll below, comment IN THIS POST about your selection, or what you ate for breakfast, or how you feel about the treatment of puffins by polar bears, and your name goes into the magical random number generator.

If you happen to be a member of my Facebook Fan Page, you get an extra entry...just like that! You can join now, you know - just click right here and then click on the "Become a Fan" button. If you're already a fan - you don't have to do a thing (except comment on this post). I know who you are...

I'll close the poll on Thursday, September 10, at 10 pm Eastern Time, and announce the winners on Friday when I post the new poll.

(By the way - larger images of all of these can be found at my Flickr site...)

The poll is closed, peeps! Thanks for voting!

  1. Tough choice but but a pleasant process choosing one. I love the graphic qualities of 'Abner', and the cool palette apeals to me, too.

I'm a recent convert to gouache, having now invested 10 months in it--and loving it! I's been great finding your stylish birds and flowers. (Plus I enjoy your easy style of humorous writing.)

  3. I voted for my fav which is the eget(wrong spelling) ever since you posted it, I have admired it, kept looking back at it, it beautiful, the colour so clean and pure, you do beautiful work

  4. I thought you might make it easy for us the first time - you know, four crappy ones with one great one - but, no, they are of course all good which makes it tough. But I am partial to Phineas (as I believe I told you before) - love the hatching, the colors, the attitude, the creative style - with Abner a close second. How 'bout them Puffins!

  6. Thanks Lee!

Dan - that's my favorite too - well...one of them...Thanks for picking him!

Linda - Tell me about it. Have you looked at their policy on education? Ridiculous what they want to brainwash those poor puffins with.

  7. Very tough to choose! But I do really like Delmar. But then I see that he's not nearly so popular as Abner. Of course I never did hang out with the popular crowd.

I might have just double voted, I don't know if my phone vote from last night worked. Just didn't want to get left out of the drawing, any of these would look great hanging on my den wall!

  12. Well, I bought one so of course I love Xanthus. I like the colors and the calmness...a sort of peaceful content feeling. I think the details are beautiful. I also REALLY like Abner! I like Abner because when I look at him I see "life" in a very alive and strong way. I sense powerful inner side of life,,,ready to gracefully take on the world. I might need to buy Abner :)

I really had a hard time choosing between the first two. I'm not exactly sure what made me choose the first one, there is probably some artistic explanation, but I just really liked it! I almost chose the crane, just one click away.

  16. Diahn;
This was actually rather difficult to choose. I love the top two paintings! I finally chose the "Abner" for it's action and feel. Thanks for sharing them as they are all beautiful.

  20. Your work is beautiful. I voted for Abner. :)

  21. Okay, that was a very hard choice. They are all very beautiful and picking just one was hard. Great Job! I love your work.

  22. ALL beautiful . . . I almost voted for one of those who hadn't gotten their fair share, but the Egret won out "wings down."

  25. Hands down...loved the egret! They are all wonderful.

  26. These are wonderful! My favorite is the first goldfinch- I love those birds anyway. Your designs are lovely!

  27. I had a difficult time voting, I liked more than one. But 2 and 5 were my favourites and I finally voted for 5.

  28. Hard to pick just one because I love all of your work. Finally narrowed it down to two and then just went with the one that is a favorite color scheme because it was the only way I could finally narrow it down that far

  29. I picked Phineas. It was a tough call but I fell head over heels for all that fancy penwork!

  30. Your leaf is my favorite! Absolutely stunning. I will have to choose Abner from the others (a hard choice! They're all lovely!) because we have a snowy egret in the park near our house and we look for him every summer.

  31. It's the sweet over-the-shoulder look and blue/yellow combination that got me. Just lovely.

They each have different personalities. I like the one looking over his shoulder because it looks like he's up to something. The second print has the most energy. The third one looks like he's been struggling and is now exhausted. The 4th is saying, "Aw..shucks!". The 5th has his head neither lowered nor arrogantly high -- just self-assured and comfortable. I guess I like them all. :)
