Alone in the Dark

derek_bw

Derek: I go to sleep easier in Knoxville than in Arlington.

Me: Really? Why is that?

Derek: Because I can hear the train.

Me: Yeah? Is that a soothing sound to you?

Derek: Yeah. It lets me know I'm not the only one awake.

  1. I love the fact that you don't care if your men are smiling. It gets you some AMAZING photos of them.

  2. Melinda - I know...he's one of a kind, isn't he?

Karen - I actually prefer them to NOT smile - I think it makes them look more natural...if I catch a smile, it's usually very candid and non-forced. Something happens to (at least my) boys about this age, and all their smiles look like they just ate something that tasted really bad...

  4. That's a keeper. I mean, that photo should be blown up and hung prominently in the house.

  6. I sleep better when I hear the long lonely night sound of a train whistle too. There is something deeply comforting about it...I think Derek put his finger on exactly what that something is. Smart guy you got there mom.
