In response to your request for fears and affirmations.
Fear: I'm too old to start an artistic career. Affirmation. So what. I've already had other careers, this one is just a bonus. Do I want to look back some day and say I was too chicken to try? No way. There is something worse than failure, and that's regret.
I fear that everyone knows my work is crap but I'm the only one who can't see it and my life is running out. Fear I've wasted a lot of years doing boring stuff and it's too late to change. Affirmation, with age comes confidence.
I fail to complete artwork or try new methods for fear it will not be perfect (fear of failure). Affirmation: Rarely does anyone produce a perfect work of art the first time they try. You will learn from your failures. Go for it.
