I've got the BLUES

"Dear Diahn,
Thank you for your entry in Eye Candy AVA's Juried Member exhibit. Your work was among a very impressive group of entries of various styles and media, and the decision-making process was a difficult one. Out of 234 entries, only 49 works were selected to participate in this exhibition. Unfortunately, the juror did not accept your work(s) for this show..."

Sigh. The works I submitted are below. Always makes me want to quit for a day or two - but then I just can't help myself and I start over again.

Sorry for the downer, but I did say there might be some wailing and moaning...Wail...Moan...

Did a little work on this bovine. His ears needed some bridging to the skull, so I added those in, and then changed the color intensity on the ears a little so they looked more like the belonged on him. Posted by Picasa

Serene Cow in a Mad World

Moooo. Another cow. What is it with me and cows lately? I don't know - but I like 'em. The color is a little off on this one - taken inside, at night, no flash, but it's close. It's funny - when I upload these, I usually spot a problem area to work on, and this is no different - the eye on the left is too big relative to the eye on the right. Gotta go fix that right now, or I won't be able to sleep :-). Posted by Picasa

The Older Prodigy

In the interest of fairness - since I already posted Joshua's T-Rex. This is a drawing my oldest son, Derek, did about a year ago. It is still SO impressive! It's me, pregnant, with Derek and Joshua in my tummy. Joshua is the one with just the big head - Derek has legs! No - they aren't twins...I guess Derek just thought Joshua hung out for an extra 20 months after Derek was born... Anyhow - it's brilliant!!! Posted by Picasa

DNA Soup

Not so much art as fascination. My son, Joshua, recently turned 4. I was looking through some old photos and happened across my 4th birthday party, and my nephew's 4th birthday party (he's 19, now). Pretty strong resemblance here. My son is in the top left and bottom right...His brother looks just like my husband - I'll start that photo collage as soon as I round up some photos of DH... Dahlia again

Update on Dahlia - changed the background to a much darker green by glazing dioxazine purple over top of the permanent green light that was there. Posted by Picasa
