Free, to a Good Home

Eastern Bluebird

It's giveaway time!  Happy Friday, everyone!

I'm giving away this original gouache and ink painting to one of my dear readers as a lead-up to opening my new etsy shop on July 31.  It is 5x7 on pastel paper - ready to be matted and framed and hung in your favorite corner.

This is a different view of our friend, the bluebird.  I was so distressed to hear, yesterday, that some of you haven't seen a bluebird, I figured it must be the right thing to give away.

So here's all YOU have to do!

Leave me a comment, in this post, any time between today (July 17, 2009) and Sunday, July 19, 2009, at midnight and I'll enter your name into the drawing one time.  Easy!

But wait...there's more!  Write a little something about my giveaway on your own blog or Twitter feed, link back to this post, and email me to tell me about it at diahnott at gmail dot com...one more chance to win!

I'll stir all the entries up in a random number generator and have it spout out a winner on Monday morning!

Don't forget to make sure that your name is included in your post!  I had one anonymous entry with no contact or name last week, and so I couldn't add that one to the drawing.

Have a great weekend, everyone - and good luck!

  6. We are lucky here in North Carolina to have an abundance of blue birds but I have a hard time taking their picture as I don't have a zoom lens. I would love to win your beautiful blue bird! Thanks for the give away!

  8. I love Blue birds and your painting is fantastic. We have Scrub Jays here and they are fun to watch. Not as fun as watching the Quail tease our bird dog, but still cool to look at. Good luck on everything and have a great and creative day! ;-)Rhonda

  13. Well, count me in! I am so enjoying this series, and of course, the bluebird is a favorite. We have had them nest in our bluebird box in the past, but not so in recent years. I'm looking forward to seeing your Etsy shop too!

Beautiful painting, Diahn! I never see bluebirds up here in Trumbull, Connecticut, just the bullying blue jays ---

  19. Even though I do see bluebirds almost everyday in the spring in summer here, this little guy would be a sweet reminder during the dull, winter months! :) Love the colors!

The background complements the chirpiness of the bird so well.

  25. Bluebirds are my favorite. Unfortunately, we have about 2 per year --- then they are gone. We get so excited when they move into one of my houses and watch them until they leave.
Love your work and page layout!!

  29. A bluebird of happiness. Yep, put me in the pot. I live in a tree house. Quite fitting for a bluebird.

this is a wonderful painting :)

  34. Diahn, LOVE your style! These gouache and ink pieces are just great. (and I'd say that even if you weren't having this contest.)

If you love bluebirds, have you seen a mountain bluebird? You'd freak. The entire bird is blue, from a fresh light blue on the breast to pure cerulean blue on the back. Gorgeous.

Good luck with your Etsy site!

  37. I'm another person who hasn't seen a bluebird. They don't come to the island - or not that I know of.

This drawing is lovely, very illustrational, it would fit well in a book.

    Beautiful work.

  39. Well, I'm too late, but I'm glad I got to see it anyway! LOL We do love our bluebirds here--we have a house, and so far this year, two clutches of babies have taken flight. You did a beautiful job on capturing their lovely character.
