Happy Friday...

I've got a new set of paintings to choose from this week. I'm also trying a different poll style than last week...It's over there, on the right...in the sidebar. It's just a list of the names, so here are the pictures to remind you of each one. You can click on the names below the photo mosaic and go to the Flickr image, if you want to see a larger photo of each one...

The winner this week will be the second print to go into my Etsy shop...so pick wisely, grasshoppers...

***
So here's the deal this week...Vote for your favorite and leave a comment here to tell me what you chose, or what color your eyes are or what kind of snakes you like to handle, and you'll be entered into the weekly drawing for one of the prints. I'll select two winners next Friday from among the comments. Want to add to your chances? Okay...here's what you do...

  1. Leave a comment here - that's the most important thing - you're not entered into the drawing if you don't leave a comment.
  2. Friend me at my Facebook Fan page and/or Follow me here on Blogger. My friends and followers always get an extra entry!
  3. If you Twitter, use the TweetMeme button below to tweet this post. Make sure to add @diahn to the tweet, so I can find it easily to give you credit for the Tweet!
  4. Blog about the giveaway on your own blog or on Facebook. Make sure you link back here, and send me an email or mention it in your comment here, so I don't miss it!
That's it! Easy breezy, lemon squeezy. You peeps are awesome for helping me out like this!

And on to this week's winners...the random number generator spat out these numbers...

What does that mean? Well, it means that fellow snake handler, Ann of Blue Bird Hill (#7) and Elena, the French Toast Girl (#44) will be receiving a print of Abner after the 1st of October, when they go into the Etsy shop!

Congratulations Ann and Elena! Email me your snail mail addresses and I'll get you your print!

Have a spectacular weekend, my friends...I'll be having one, too!

  1. You don't make it easy to chose, do you?

I have a long history of snake handling ... just not in THAT context. (And of course, they tend to handle me right back. I'm the only person that I know who has been snake-bitten three times. Sigh.)

  2. Cawley rocks. He's dark and cynical...kind of like RF. :)

  3. RF...Why you want to freak me out like that, girlfriend?

  6. Such a difficult decision! I narrowed it down to Emory of the irises, panicked at the last minute and chose the irises. I see Emory is a clear front runner so all is good.

I am so excited to be a winner on last week's contest!!! I can't wait to welcome Abner into my home. I really never win anything. Maybe this will be the start of a new trend :-)

  13. I vote Quinn. He's all cute and round. :)

  14. I like the flowers because they are calming and done with such colors that I want to just sit and look at it all day... I like the birds but the flowers are my fav!

  15. Sorry, this week the 'girls' got my vote! I had to think about it for a while, but that's the one I had pulled up over and over to look at before you asked us to vote. 'Course, that might be because I was teaching a class on how to paint flowers... but orange is one of my favorite colors, probably second only to purple. Obvious choice.

  16. You're paintings are lovely!

    (and you got my vote!)

  17. Cawley! Cawley! Cawley! (But I'm also quite enamored of Digby too!)

  18. Adele, Carly and Faina get my vote without hesitation. Purple Iris is one of my favorite flowers and I love that you used an orange background; besides, I love your work! And I'm headed over to my blog because I do want people to know about a chance to win some of your work... that with hesitation though because it narrows my chances.

  23. Why Emory naturally :)
My BF's grandson is named Emory.

  24. Love them all but Iris's always are my favorite...:)

  25. Emory's the one!! The contrast is what makes him jump off the page and fly away! Snakes...Ball Pythons are my favorite to handle, but I have a funny story about a Prairie King snake and John J Pershing's boyhood home!

My DH and I were on a weekend walkabout in Northern Missouri, near Chillicothe, where he's from, visiting State Parks, historic sites, nature areas, etc. We saw that there were tours of the home, so we took it. The Park ranger was telling us about the former general's youth and I spied, in the dining room, against the floorboard, a small Prairie King snake. Everyone else (read-the MEN) wanted to smack it with something. I told them to find me a grocery or other type of bag to chase it into. No bag. I ended up picking it up, ignoring the males, and my grip slipped below the head and it bit me. I knew it wasn't poisonous...but the men, not so much. The ranger was trying to call 911 and get poison control and I just wanted soap and water and a bandaid (after I took the poor, frightened snake safely out to an outbuilding that was out of use).

    We still laugh about that!

  26. I love the Adele... flower painting. It is by far the best one this week. Thanks for sharing.

  27. Well, they're all gorgeous (how mean of you to make us choose!), but my favorite is Cawley because crows and ravens are beautiful and fascinating creatures. You've captured Cawley perfectly.

  28. Ring Neck snakes even though they are feisty. They live under the paving stones which we had to move and rescue efforts had to be undertaken. They didn't pee on me like the garters did!

  29. Emory is my man! Love all your work.

  30. I am so in love with Adele, Carly and Faina and I'll be your friend forever if you pick me. No, really! Love them THAT much! And my eyes are brown and we had to let my little average garden snake go when I was a little kid. We rescued him from certain death ... dad and the lawnmower ... and then the ungrateful little twit wouldn't eat. Yep, still slightly traumatized.

    Keep the gorgeousness coming!

  37. Casting my vote for Emory. His introspective mood captured my attention -- clearly a bird with an active mental landscape; no bird brain he!

Love your blog, very witty and well written.
