The second of nine completed. Number 3 is in bad shape. It may end up being a set of eight.
Nah. It's acrylics - everything is savable...right?
And hey, peeps - thanks for clicking the Follow Me! link - I feel a little better now! Ya'll are the best.
Keep drawing, Artoberites!
wow how do you achieve this texture, it's so real.artoberite, yes i like that name.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love the highlights. This red background is just BEAUTIFUL, too. And of course you can save number 3 -- I'll bet it's better than you think.
ReplyDeletePears ... hmmm.... I have pears...
OH, nice pear. Looks good enough to eat.
ReplyDeletevery nice pear . . . one of my favorite subjects!
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice and juicy.... love your highlights.
ReplyDeleteYour pears are wonderful. Pears are beautiful. So sculptural.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your goal with the set of nine? Is it to paint the pear from every angle, to try various color combinations, to perfect your technique? I'm asking because I've never done a study before. It sounds intriguing. And your pears are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pear!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments everyone!
ReplyDeletesoulbrush - if you look back in the April 2007 archives, you'll find a post called "My Flemish Technique." That's basically how I'm painting these pears as well. LOTS of layers to build up the form and then the color.
steviewren - I wish I could say I had some lofty artistic goal, but really - I just like the way 9 little canvases come together to make one big piece of art. These are only 6 inches square, but hung together, they will make a nice large group!
Well Diahn you sure have challenged me. ha
ReplyDeleteLove pears and this one is beautiful. And anything can be salvaged in acrylics. You are talking about another piece right?
You're so creative Diahn..I just popped in on your other blog too with your lovely pics.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely dramatic pear, I love it, and I'm looking forward to seeing nine versions!
